Martina Smith

Reviewer & SEND advisor

I have worked in education numerous years teaching in a variety of primary settings. I have an 8 year old son has a diagnosis of Dravet Syndrome (a severe epilepsy syndrome). The poor seizure control we had in the early years of his life, coupled with frequent hospital admissions and appointments made full time work impossible but I did go back to university part time and am now in my final year completing a doctorate PHD in early childhood, education and disability. I have joined the HDO team as a reviewer, trainer and coach, as I am fully of aware of the challenges faced by families and individuals. I want more businesses to embrace this by making small changes which will make a difference.
