Lydiard Park, Lydiard Tregoze, Swindon, Wiltshire, SN5 3PA
Lydiard Park is a great day out for families. It can be a completely great free afternoon or morning of running around, practising scootering or bike riding and feeding the ducks! There is lots of space and the adventure playground is split into two (based on the things to do). I would say it is one for younger 5s and one for 4 plus year olds. Both of the playgrounds are gated. More details of the playgrounds; https://www.lydiardpark.org.uk/park/Pages/play-area.aspx. The café is large and spacious with a good selection of children’s options, cakes and snacks. There are several picnic tables outside and around the café. The Park is open all year round and is FREE. https://www.lydiardpark.org.uk/visit/Pages/opening-times.aspx. However, the parking is now charged as pay and display https://www.lydiardpark.org.uk/visit/Pages/Parking.aspx. There are a collection of disabled parking bays.
The house is nice to explore when it’s raining or if you want to learn about the history of the St John family. There are lots of things to see but not to touch!!! They have interactive speaking boards which give info about what the room is showing. Also, if you want to explore St Mary’s church, pop into the house and they will give you the key to enter. I love Lydiard as its calm, free and very relaxed. They also offer FREE ENTRY for one carer per disabled visitor into the house.
