Whelford Road, Fairford. GL7 4DT
Magic Beans is a new café and sensory soft play in the Cotswold Water Park just outside the town of Whelford (just off the A417), and near to Lechlade (10 minutes away), Fairford (less than 5 minutes away) and Cirencester (about 20 minutes away). It is a family and dog friendly café which has lovely seating indoors and outdoors overlooking the lake. They have hot meals, sandwiches, jacket potatoes, cakes, and great tea and coffee. If you’ve been for a walk or are driving past you should pop in for a cuppa and cake, which is separate to the “sensory area”. If it is a planned visit the sensory area is accessible for an hourly rate which is a great place for children to play. I would say overall this sensory area is geared more for under 8 year olds, but equally I know my son will still enjoy it in a few years time. I also think in the summer the outside area will be a great area for the older children.
Over the next few months there are lots of projects that will be unfolding including the sensory area are going to host parties, they are going to develop the enclosed outside area to have outdoor equipment, and many more things. The owner explained that the parties would be twice a day to stop an overload of events and people.
Currently, it is turn up and pay to use the sensory area, however, they are going to have an online booking system in the future. Also, if you are concerned they might be full (as its a 25 people capacity) do call ahead as they are very good at answering and you can see if its busy.
The toilet facilities are brilliant and they have a disabled/baby changing toilet in the main café area, and also another one in the sensory zone which has a full sized changing table. They do have a hoist but currently it has not been installed. Overall, the whole cafe and sensory area are fully accessible and very much geared to support SEND families. I wish more owners had such a vision and passion to support families who need a place where they feel at ease, relaxed and included. We had a great time and will definitely return, and we cannot wait to see all the exciting projects in the future.
Entry to the soft play is separate to the cafe.
