Oakwood Theme Park South Wales

Oakwood Theme Park

It is a small family park with BMXs, a wooden fort, a 3D-style cinema experience show, go-karts and a water chute ride. The park now incorporates four large thrill rides: Megafobia, Vertigo, Drenched and Speed.  A popular attraction for those holidaying in Pembrokeshire, and also next to Bluestone Resort.

Review by Vic:

We visited at the beginning of the season during the Easter holidays which was a great time to go as it wasn’t busy at all. They offer “fast queue” passes which is great but we only used them on one ride which was the “lodge” ride.  It was well worth having for this ride as the queue was really busy.  They also offer carer passes and were really accommodating, we also used our Clubcard Vouchers in conjunction with this and it was absolutely fine. The parking is right next to the entry/ticket area which is also next to a small station that has a shuttle style train which takes you to the main part of the park.  If your child/children cannot cope with waiting for this it’s less that 5 minute walk to the park.

The “fast queue” passes you can get from the reception opposite the station once you are in the park.  As we went out of season they sent us to the main shop area and there was nobody around so got them quickly. We took our diagnosis and a copy of our recent DLA letter which were fine. The fast passes worked really well, and you just entered via the exit section and were pretty much put on the next ride which is fantastic.  I know many other theme parks which operate more complicated systems, and this really worked for us.  The toboggan ride was the main ride that we needed a fast queue jump, and you were able to go to the section where people left the ride.  the staff were great and alternated those in the main queue with those in the fast pass queue.

I had been to Oakwood before about 15 years ago whilst taking kids in a school trip, and to be honest lots hadn’t changed much.  One area that the kids loved was the “Peter Pan” adventure section which had a lot of smaller rides and was pretty much enclosed so less stressful. Overall, a great theme park as its not on big and there is enough to do to keep the kids occupied and happy.

It opens again on Monday 9th April 2019.
